arte magra: from the opaque
arte magra; from the opague included fourteen artists/partnerships at the AEAF and off-site locations. Its title (‘lean’ or ‘meagre’ art) referenced the art movement arte povera that unfolded in northern Italy in the late 60s early 70s while its subtitle, from the opaque, quotes an autobiographical essay by Italo Calvino. Curated by Mary Knights and Domenico De Clario. My work, Come Closer So I can Whisper in your Ear, located in a public walkway blackened out a wall of windows, where a large video drew viewers to the darkness revealing a series of peephole scenes.
